fun with straws

This weekend I’m meeting up with some friends for a celebratory brunch. Since I’m always looking for a reason to make a little crafty project, I thought it would be fun to make some straws for the little kids that will be there.

Looking around etsy, I found some sellers who have new, vintage stock of cool straws. Wouldn’t it be fun to use some of these?

Did you know that in the 1950s, straws used to come packaged in a cardboard box which had punch out characters on the back that you could use to decorate your straws?  I like when packaging has another re-use built in!

Here’s what I came up with:

You can make these too! Download the free project here: Smiling Apple Party Straws
