It’s no secret I like to have parties. Big or small, it doesn’t matter! I love every part of it: the planning, the preparation, the menu, the decorations, and of course the people you get to celebrate with. All to often, parties are reserved for the “3 Bs”: Birthdays, Babies & Brides. Yes, those are important reasons to celebrate, but I’ve always thought that you should have a party just because you feel like it! Maybe this is the reason people get so stressed out about hosting a party. They’re only doing it “when it counts” for those big occasions.
With the fall season upon us, and the busy holidays coming up, I think it is the perfect time to get a small group together to have some fun. A crafting party is one of my favorites. Who doesn’t enjoy making a little something? What I like to do is pick out one or two projects that are simple and don’t require any special skills or tools and have all the supplies ready for my guests. For this party, I’ll set up a large folding table in the living room, where everyone can sit together to craft. I want to use this new owl invitation we just released:
Here are some party planning details:
To decorate: I’ll pull together some vignettes using twigs from the yard, brown pottery, a couple of owl statues that are in my office right now, and some balls of yarn in wood bowls. I like to use my fireplace mantel to display this stuff for a party.
I’ll probably use this celebrate banner by Small Stump that I already own and drape it across the mantel:
Some other party details:
- make a table cloth out of brown kraft paper, maybe I’ll cut the edge with pinking shears
- prepare some finger foods for brunch so my guests can easily eat AND craft at the same time!
- pull together crafting supplies for the projects in baskets and put them on the credenza
- bake some yummy cupcakes! The ones pictured at the beginning of the post are pumpkin bread with a vanilla cream cheese frosting.
Doesn’t this sound like fun!
