vintage heart lockets

Let it be known, that I adore anything heart shaped. I’m not particularly a girlie-girl, yet for some reason, I love hearts.  One of the things I have a small collection of is vintage heart lockets. I bought one, on a whim, on eBay once and fell in love with it and well, you know how the rest of that story goes…bid! bid! buy!

I also think they make a great gift.  I scored an amazing one with the letter “C” monogrammed on it for my sister Caitie. They’d make a great bridal shower gift, especially if you can find one monogrammed with the groom’s initial!

You can find vintage heart lockets relatively inexpensively on eBay.  Just make sure it’s truly vintage.  A lot of the listings will say “vintage style” which can be misleading.  There’s usually 100 or more on there at a time, ranging from delicate floral designs:

to ornate designs such as this stunning cameo one or this cool WWII locket:

You’ll find lots of monogrammed lockets.  I love how this one works multiple monograms into the design:

My personal favorites are one’s that incorporate bold stripes into the design.  I come across a lot of these and I really like the juxtaposition of the stripes with the more feminine elements.
